Attack at Dawn: North Africa is a World War II strategy game that recreates the brutal and fast-paced desert warfare of the North African campaign. You command forces at multiple levels-battalions, brigades, divisions and even air wings-as German and Italian armored formations probe into the Libyan region of Cyrenaica. Campaigns conclude only when the Axis Panzer Armee is destroyed or the British are pushed back across the Suez Canal, giving each playthrough clear and consequential objectives.

Gameplay is designed to capture the speed and chaos of mobile desert fighting. You can play in Real-Time or Turn-Based (WeGo) modes, and the fog of war heightens the tension and uncertainty of command. Scenarios include both historically reconstructed battles and plausible alternate-history encounters, all based on careful research into orders of battle, unit composition and combat values for authenticity.

The interface is clean and user-friendly: maps and unit displays are uncluttered and easy to read, and you can choose between top-down models or traditional unit counters. Zoom out for full-battlefield situational awareness or zoom in for tactical decisions. The game map is enormous-nearly 2,000 kilometers from the Gulf of Sirte to the Suez Canal-featuring varied terrain such as sea, desert, mountains, wadis and ports, plus the long coastal Via Balbia and the desert tracks that lead into the Sahara. A built-in Scenario Editor lets you create your own battles anywhere on this vast battleground.
