Platoon is a compact, approachable real-time tactics game that mixes squad-level command with the option to jump into the boots of any soldier or vehicle on the field. Missions send you to assault trenches, seize villages and urban blocks, exploit cover and terrain, call in artillery, and coordinate tanks and IFVs alongside infantry to achieve clear objectives.

What you’ll do
- Command multiple squads, tanks and IFVs from a classic RT tactics perspective: order cover, maneuver for better firing positions, and use terrain to your advantage.
- Switch to direct control of any allied soldier or vehicle to tip a fight with precise firing, close-quarters action, or hands-on tank work.
- Rely on special roles - Lieutenant, Platoon Sergeant, Medic and Engineer - whose abilities are important for keeping your platoon alive and effective.
- Play short, focused missions designed to be completed in about 15 minutes each, making the game great for quick sessions.

Strengths
- Dual-layer gameplay: the blend of top-down command and first-person/vehicle control gives both strategic depth and immediate action.
- Clear unit roles and combined-arms play: infantry and vehicles must support each other, creating satisfying tactical trade-offs.

Things to know
- This is a simplified, more casual wargame - not a hardcore milsim. There is no ammo/inventory management, fortification building, resupply logistics or complex revival mechanics. The emphasis is on tactics and action rather than simulation.
- Some jank and minor technical rough edges exist. They’re not game-breaking and are reportedly infrequent, but they can be noticeable. The game is offered at a lower price to reflect that.

Who it’s for
- Players who want an accessible, tactical experience with the option to personally drive a tank or take a soldier into the fray will find a lot to enjoy.
- If you’re looking for deep simulation or hardcore realism, this isn’t the title for you. But if you prefer short, tactical encounters with direct-control moments and combined-arms gameplay, Platoon is worth a look.
