Skirmish Line puts you in the role of an Allied tactical commander during the Pacific Theater of World War II. As the enemy Imperial Japanese forces launch their attacks, you must adapt quickly to dynamic battlefield conditions by building trenches, calling in artillery strikes, upgrading your squad, and leading your men to victory. Drawing inspiration from Mud and Blood, the game features a top-down view, semi-autonomous units, and a high level of randomization to keep every battle fresh and challenging.

The game offers three distinct modes. In Defense in Depth, your objective is to hold three successive positions against relentless enemy assaults. You can choose to retreat systematically or risk a determined defense to secure critical ground. Point Defense delivers a more traditional experience where you advance forward without the option of retreat, battling for favorable terrain and command points to invest in new soldiers, weapons, and fortifications. Meanwhile, Campaign Mode tasks you with managing your own persistent squad through multiple missions, balancing the pressure from a demanding theater commander against the need to keep your team alive. As missions become more perilous, your renown as a field commander allows you to purchase increasingly powerful upgrades.

In addition to tactical combat, Skirmish Line rewards extraordinary achievements with ribbons, medals, and rank advancements. Each accolade provides bonuses—unlocking special weapons, unique soldiers, and innovative tactics—that enhance your squad’s capabilities and strategic options.

While Skirmish Line takes direct inspiration from Mud and Blood 2, it is an independent title, offering both fans of the original and newcomers a fresh, brutal, and challenging endless defense experience against one of history’s most iconic adversaries.
