Obenseuer v0.4.16a - early access

Obenseuer

Obenseuer is a strange, bleak, and surprisingly compelling survival sim set in the most chaotic district of Stalburg, a place sealed under quarantine where escape is impossible. From the start, the game throws you into a world of depression, addiction, illness, and social decay, then gives you one simple directive: survive and keep moving upward.

What makes Obenseuer stand out is its mix of grim atmosphere and sandbox-style progression. You inherit a crumbling unfinished apartment building and turn it into your base of operations, gradually upgrading it into something profitable. Managing tenants, maintaining the property, and expanding your business gives the game a strong sense of long-term growth, even if the setting is filthy, unstable, and deeply unsettling.

The building and crafting systems are also a major part of the appeal. You can decorate your apartment, furnish rooms however you like, and set up a workshop or even a basement factory. This freedom makes the game feel personal, as if you’re slowly carving out order in a place designed to break you.

There’s also a farming angle that adds an odd but effective layer to the gameplay. Growing turnips, potatoes, and other crops in such a miserable environment creates a darkly humorous contrast, and converting your harvest into profit fits the game’s twisted economy perfectly.

Beyond the management side, Obenseuer leans heavily into mystery and social interaction. The district is full of eccentric locals, and by completing tasks and quests for them, you uncover darker truths hidden beneath the surface. That sense of discovery gives the world more depth and makes the setting feel alive, if deeply disturbed.

Crime is another key part of the experience. Theft, sabotage, and break-ins are all on the table, but the game makes it clear that getting caught has consequences. That adds tension and gives your choices real weight, especially in a place where desperation is part of everyday life.

Overall, Obenseuer looks like a unique blend of survival, property management, crafting, farming, and dark storytelling. Its atmosphere is oppressive, but its systems offer plenty of freedom and progression. If you enjoy games that mix management with bleak humor, strange characters, and a constant sense of danger, this one seems worth watching closely.

[spoiler=Steam Update Info 20.03.2026] Dev blog – The Bazaar #4 Hello, shroom farmers and kilju makers! The Bazaar has been progressing steadily, but it’s not ready just yet. The main reason it’s taking time is the sheer size and amount of content involved. So, how big is the Bazaar going to be?Well, the Bazaar is bigger than the mines and the starting area combined. For example, the starting area has around 25 locations, the mines have around 20, and the Bazaar will have more than 50, including a tunnel network that connects to previous areas, including the player’s tenement.Anyway, here are some highlights of what we have been working on since last time.El...
