WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition is a wildlife survival game where you play as a gray wolf living in the Northern Range of Yellowstone National Park. After leaving your birth pack, you must survive alone by hunting, exploring the wilderness, finding a mate, and building your own pack. From there, your goal is to raise pups and help your family endure the challenges of the wild.

The game focuses on realistic wolf life and ecology. You can hunt animals like elk, mule deer, and moose, claim territory, choose a den, and protect your pups from predators and rival wolves. As your family grows, your pups eventually become yearlings, learn to hunt, and later disperse to start their own lives, continuing the cycle across generations.

WolfQuest features detailed recreations of Yellowstone locations, with changing day and night, weather, and seasons. The world is full of wildlife, including rival wolf packs, bears, cougars, coyotes, and other animals competing for food and territory. Many gameplay systems are based on real wolf research, with help from science advisors and wolf biologists to keep behavior and ecology accurate.

It also includes genetics, so traits like eye color, personality, and coat color can be inherited. In addition, there is an optional Ironwolf mode for a more challenging experience, over 100 achievements, collectible items hidden around the map, and multiplayer options for co-op pack life or relaxed sandbox play. WolfQuest is also verified for Steam Deck.
