Mossroot is a fresh take on the party-based tactical RPG roguelike, sending you on a daring ascent of a fortified mountain ruled by an Evil King. Each run is different thanks to a procedurally generated path through four distinct biomes, from sun-baked cliffs to shadowy caverns, all teeming with bandits, knights, cavemen and mysterious creatures. Along the way you’ll pick up runes that power up your heroes, as well as bombs, potions and other items that can turn the tide of battle.

Combat in Mossroot emphasizes tough choices. Between fights you’ll find decision points that force you to weigh sacrifice against gain: Will you trade some of your squad’s strength to buff another member? Do you invest in healing now or save an elixir for the boss at the summit? These dilemmas keep each playthrough tense and unique.

Not every foe is destined to remain an enemy. By understanding what drives certain opponents, you can recruit them into your cause. Each new recruit brings their own special abilities, and discovering synergistic team combinations is a major part of the fun. Back at your homebase-a once-destroyed village-you’ll get to know these characters, rebuild the town together and open shops or services that alter future runs, for better or worse.
