Combat Mission Shock Force 2 is the latest title in the renowned Combat Mission franchise of wargames, now available on Steam. This game immerses players in a hypothetical conflict in Syria between NATO forces and the Syrian Army. Players take command of US Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCT) and Heavy Brigade Combat Teams (HBCT) to engage Syrian Army Infantry, Mechanized, and Armored units in an arid environment. The game challenges players with the full spectrum of modern threats to conventional military forces, including irregular combat forces, terrorists, spies, suicide bombers, and IEDs, reflecting the asymmetric warfare of today.

Players can experience the Task Force Thunder campaign, participate in more than a dozen meticulously crafted battles, or engage in unlimited Quick Battles. Missions are assigned with detailed objectives and can be played in either Real Time or the WeGo hybrid turn-based mode, which allows players to plan 60 seconds of combat and then watch as both sides' commands are executed simultaneously. The WeGo system also supports re-watching turn actions and playing against another player via email (PBEM) or "hotseat" on a single computer. RealTime and WeGo head-to-head play can also be conducted over a LAN or the Internet using TCP/IP.

The game offers massive replayability through a unique Quick Battle system, allowing players to purchase custom forces and fight over a battlefield of their choice from a wide array of maps. A powerful map and scenario editor enables players to create battles or campaigns for themselves and others.

It features detailed and realistic combat formations for the United States Army and Syrian Army, two types of Syrian Unconventional Forces, and a variety of modern warfare features such as on-map mortars, drones, and anti-aircraft fire. The game also includes an expanded arid combat environment with waterways, bridges, and other new terrain, as well as intricately detailed combat equipment for both armies.
