The Gold River Project is an ambitious open-world survival game that drops you into a remote camping trip gone wrong. What starts as a peaceful outdoor adventure quickly turns into a tense experiment where you and your friends are watched, studied, and forced to survive in a massive private nature reserve in the Pacific Northwest. The game blends survival, exploration, crafting, base building, and mystery, with plenty of room for experimentation and replayability.

One of the game’s biggest strengths is its scale and freedom. You can play solo or team up with up to 4 players in online co-op, build and expand your campsite, scavenge useful resources, and decide how you want to progress. The world is designed to change between playthroughs, so points of interest, supplies, and substations are not always in the same place. This adds variety and keeps each run feeling fresh.

The recently released free Mariner Update expands the experience even further. It introduces kayaks, scuba gear, underwater exploration, an abandoned underwater mine, a hidden outboard motorboat, bait-and-trap fishing, and new cooking recipes. These additions make the world feel deeper and more open to discovery, especially for players who enjoy slow exploration and environmental storytelling.
