Civitatem is a village-management survival strategy where you shape the future of your people by assigning the right villager to each task and guiding your settlement through changing seasons, dangers and opportunities. Name your village and appoint a village elder-customize his specializations and use his unique, always-available abilities to lead critical missions while the rest of the population rests or recovers.
Every villager is your most important resource. People gain experience in the jobs they perform; children can be educated in schools so they enter adulthood with stronger skills. Balance food, shelter and water to meet villager needs-neglect can cause death or force families to leave your lands. Maps and resources are procedurally generated, so each playthrough presents new territory and challenges.
Survival is dynamic: day/night cycles, seasons and weather affect crop timings and resource use, while seasonal events range from helpful boons to wildlife attacks, natural disasters and bandit raids. As your village grows, raiders will attempt to plunder or even kidnap villagers for ransom. Prepare defenses, craft better weapons and armor in your blacksmiths, or capture attackers and turn them into a source of income by building a prison.
Expand your influence by researching new technologies-acquired through trade books-improving buildings, tools and management. Send scouts to explore surrounding lands to discover other villages, unlock trade opportunities and find random rewards. To win, build a stable, thriving community and erect one of two end-game monuments that transform your town into a center of trade, spirituality and knowledge.
Play at three difficulty levels, each with unique progression and challenges. After completing the game you unlock Free Mode (no events or combat) and earn persistent rewards that carry over into future playthroughs. Civitatem grew substantially during Early Access-content has been doubled, features added, and the experience polished based on player feedback.
