Sector Unknown v1.4.13 - early access

Sector Unknown is an isometric, party-less RPG that blends classic CRPG sensibilities with modern design. Drawing clear inspiration from games like Fallout 2, KOTOR, Wasteland 3 and Pathfinder: Kingmaker, it puts heavy emphasis on choice, character build variety, and a mixture of combat and non-combat solutions to problems.

Overview
You begin the game as an escaped prisoner who crash-lands on Maku, a dead world that becomes your home base. From there you expand into the hidden "null sector," a string of off-chart planets dominated by the mega-corporation Star Frontier. The story is about exploration, rebellion and building an alliance of worlds-whether by diplomacy, subterfuge, or force-to topple a corporate tyranny. The narrative is shaped by your origins, personality and the non-combat skills you invest in, so decisions have long-term consequences across the sector.
Gameplay and systems
- Character creation is meaningful: choose an origin and personality that grant distinct combat and non-combat bonuses and open unique dialogue and world interactions. Six physical attributes (Strength, Coordination, Vision, Speed, Aggression, Intelligence) and a broad set of skills (Engineering, Science, Computers, Biology, Finances, Piloting, Intimidation, Persuasion, Perception, Luck, Larceny, etc.) let you craft very different playstyles.
- Combat is viable but not mandatory: many encounters can be resolved through persuasion, hacking, biology or other non-combat approaches.
- Planets are diverse and story-rich: Maku (starter/base), Nabi (desert survival conflict), Eremtera (frozen world with stranded soldiers), Helfyr (volcanic cult), Sjo (oceanic lawlessness), and more-each with unique factions and story arcs.
- Base and fleet progression: your Maku base functions as a hub for crafting, research and the bounty terminal. You recruit personnel, build fleets and reinforce planets as your rebellion grows.
- Bounty Hunting: a dedicated terminal lets you take on death-mark contracts across planets, with tougher contracts unlocked through research.
- Research trees are skill-dependent: non-combat technical skills (Biology, Computers, Science, Engineering, Finances, Piloting) unlock unique branches and upgrades tied to your character’s expertise.
- War Score and galactic strategy: adding planets to your alliance increases both influence and conflict with Star Frontier. You must manage support, recruit specialists and complete key missions to improve your War Score and secure planetary fates.
- Crafting depth: over fifty organic and inorganic materials allow crafting of weapons, armor, shields, narcotics, injectors and starships. Component combinations yield powerful items that influence both combat and story outcomes.
