Thule is a turn-based 4X strategy game with RPG elements in which you command one of five powerful factions to explore, conquer and shape a growing empire across randomly generated worlds. The game blends empire management, tactical battles and unit progression as you complete missions and expand into other planes.

Gameplay highlights:
- Multiple modes: a Free Game mode on procedurally generated maps, a Mission mode with scenario-based challenges, and a Battle Arena where you pit two armies against each other.
- Turn-based combat system; during battles unit actions are handled by the game’s combat routines while you set up and manage forces.
- Build and upgrade towns to harvest resources and recruit units; develop settlements with a variety of buildings.
- Travel beyond Thule to three other planes, each offering unique hazards and rewards.
- Over 200 distinct unit types to discover and field.
- Gear system: equip units with helmets, armor, rings, amulets and more to boost stats and grant special effects like regeneration, berserker states or poisonous auras.
- Units gain experience in combat and level up-those with higher potential get stronger improvements as they advance.

Factions:
- The Empire: A human empire founded centuries ago by a divine being from the Celestial Realm, bent on unifying Thule under human rule.
- Infernal Cult: Servants of the demon lord Beelzebaal; led by demon commanders such as Belfaz and Melina, they attract criminals, dark mages and others opposed to the Empire.
- Ironpeak Union: A coalition of dwarf city-states that rose from endless underground wars; now the union looks to the surface to expand its influence.
- Zyrrnoxi: An intelligent, fearsome race originating from an ancient biomass in the ocean depths; they built complex underwater cities and a bio-engineered civilization.
- Necrotic Conclave: A secretive order of necromancers led by Melkor, exiled to Thule’s frozen wastes and sustained by the mystical energies of the Ether.

The known realms:
- Thule: A harsh, dangerous land where many races and dangerous wildlife compete for survival and control.
- Infernal Dominion: A war-torn plane of demons ruled by rival lords and dominated by Beelzebaal.
- Veil of Darkness: A realm of shifting illusions, deceptive landscapes and ruined civilizations hiding powerful artifacts.
- Celestial Realm: A realm of virtuous, orderly guardians whose pursuit of perfection can be as ruthless as their protection is powerful.
