Wartorn is a single-player, squad-based roguelite that casts you as sisters Yara and Elani, driven from their home and forced to cross the war-torn Isles of Talaur to reach the safety of their ancestral fortress, Beynun. The core appeal is its systemic elemental gameplay: fire, water, tar, plant, and lightning interact in emergent ways (water extinguishes fire, tar amplifies fire, lightning arcs across wet ranks, and water can heal plant-based units), creating tactical opportunities that reward experimentation and adaptation.

You build a Caravan by recruiting squads of fantasy creatures - goblins, elves, demons, treefolk and more - each with distinct abilities and roles. Battles are real-time and position-sensitive: squad combos, battlefield placement, and clever use of abilities matter. The caravan’s morale and hope are also resources to manage; losses reduce morale and can ultimately end your run if hope is lost.

As a roguelite, Wartorn emphasizes strategic replayability. Every run feels different thanks to dynamic squad management, unpredictable narrative events that can help or doom your party, and heirlooms found by locating family members that grant persistent advantages for future attempts. The overworld map presents branching paths, resource choices, and emergent encounters, so planning routes and watching food, hope, and squad condition are key to surviving the journey.
