Rat's Lair is a horror game that mixes sandbox freedom, stealth mechanics, simple puzzles and a compact open-world setting. You must infiltrate the lair of a mysterious creature that has made an abandoned suburban area its home.

The enemy is driven by adaptive AI - it learns from your behavior, follows its own routines, inspects hiding places, reacts to sounds and can even set traps to catch you off guard. The map contains dozens of interactive items that affect you, the creature and the environment, so there are multiple ways to approach objectives and alternative methods for finding what you need.

The game world reacts to your actions: locations and item placements can change dynamically depending on how you play, and a day/night cycle affects visibility, so bringing light sources is important. Progress requires solving straightforward puzzles that may involve using items in the right order, finding keys, careful observation and creative thinking.
