Set in Japan's postwar boom, Iwakura Aria follows Ichiko, a young woman left behind by society who takes a job as a maid in the mysterious Iwakura mansion. The household harbors its own secrets centered on the family’s heir, Aria, and as Ichiko becomes closer to her, she is drawn into a hidden world inside the estate. Their encounter forces both girls to confront the roles they've been assigned and to reclaim control over their lives.

Gameplay centers on exploration and discovery: you move through rooms on a mansion map to gather clues and piece together characters’ hidden motives and the larger mysteries at play. Intricate pencil-and-ink sketches of Ichiko’s fascinations can also hide vital hints that lead deeper into the story.

Your choices matter. There are nine possible endings, and decisions you make determine not only immediate outcomes but also the life the protagonist leads 33 years after the events of the main storyline. The narrative builds tension chapter by chapter, driven by the complex emotional ties between the women in the house-friendship, love, and rivalry that all feed into the suspense.

Visually, the game uses painterly illustrations and layered, cut-out frames created by illustrator Hyakunen and graphic designer Nakada Fumi to bring scenes and moods to life.
