Story and Setting
In the remote Colorado mountains, the asylum’s dark history seeps from every cracked wall. Rumors of inhumane experiments and supernatural rituals drive Upshur to break in, but what he finds is far worse than he ever imagined. As the truth slowly unravels, the line between reality and madness begins to blur-and your chances of escape grow slimmer with every step.

Gameplay
Outlast is pure survival horror. You cannot fight back: running and hiding are your only options. Tight stealth mechanics and simple parkour moves keep the tension high, forcing you to listen for footsteps, peek around corners and make split-second decisions when pursuing maniacs turn a corner. Your camera’s night-vision feature is indispensable in the pitch-black facility, but its battery life is limited, so every moment spent recording or scanning a dark hall increases the stakes.

Atmosphere and Presentation
The game’s AAA-quality visuals and oppressive sound design create an immersive, unsettling environment. Blood-smeared walls, flickering lights and grotesque enemies inspired by real asylum cases immerse you in an experience that feels all too real.
