Space Engineers 2 is an open-world sandbox that blends construction, exploration and survival in the uncharted Almagest system. Powered by the new VRAGE 3 engine, it offers unprecedented creative freedom and realistic destruction. Dive into Creative Mode right away and build on a single, finely detailed 25 cm grid-no more toggling between large and small grids. Visual helpers like snap-to-grid, mounting-point indicators and grid lines make precise construction intuitive, while tools such as symmetry, line-and-plane building, the voxel hand and a comprehensive paint tool let you shape your designs exactly as you imagine.
Blueprint management has been overhauled: you can partially copy and paste structures, assign items to your toolbar, and even undo or redo grid edits on the fly. Ships and stations now accelerate up to 300 m/s (with a safe-speed cut-off below 20 m/s to prevent crashes), and characters can jet around at 310 m/s. Magboots and automatic jetpack activation ensure you never accidentally drift off a platform or asteroid.
Under the hood, Space Engineers 2 runs smoother and faster thanks to refined controls (including a revamped CTRL-key rotation and zoom system) and an updated UI/UX designed for both veterans and newcomers. Weekly content drops keep the world fresh, and the Steam UGC Workshop lets you share your blueprints or download other players’ creations. Recent patches have improved mechanics like the jetpack and paint gun undo/redo, along with general interface polish.
Visually, the game has received a major upgrade: ray-traced global illumination, realistic shadowing, tessellated terrain and parallax armor effects bring every structure and starship to life. Future updates are already mapped out on the public roadmap-expect full modding support, planetary exploration and survival challenges, volumetric water on a planetary scale, and eventually multiplayer, NPCs and a story campaign.
