Stronghold: Warlords transports the classic real-time castle-building formula of Firefly Studios to East Asia, offering strategy fans their first chance to recreate the fortified economies of medieval China, Japan and Mongolia. You’ll command everything from disciplined samurai and imperial fire lancers to Mongol horse archers and deadly ninja, all while managing resources, designing impenetrable ramparts and launching gunpowder-powered sieges.
The game’s single-player experience spans 31 richly detailed campaign missions that span eras from 3rd century BC China to the rise of the Tokugawa shogunate and the expansion of the Mongol Empire. If you crave challenge beyond the main storyline, 45 skirmish-trail scenarios test your ability to build and besiege with limited resources, while Free Build mode lets you unleash your creativity against roaming AI invaders.
A standout innovation is the Warlord system. Throughout every mission, skirmish or multiplayer match you recruit and upgrade AI-controlled warlords—unique lords whose special perks range from increased production and border defense to enhanced combat abilities. Slot them into your economy or army, forge pincer attacks with allied warlords and discover fresh strategic twists every time you play.
Siegecraft reaches new heights with authentic period weapons: assemble siege towers, deploy fire oxen against enemy walls and rain bolts from hwacha arrow launchers.
