Combat unfolds in lush, retro-inspired pixel art levels viewed from an isometric perspective. You assemble an action deck of specialized Willowguard abilities—slashes, dashes and spell casts—and use them to overcome waves of increasingly formidable monsters. Outside the main campaign, Dungeon Run mode lets you jump straight into combat for quick, story-free challenges.

When you’re not fighting, you roam Woikos, question villagers and unearth clues with an innovative item-and-evidence system. Your discoveries unlock new locations, characters and branching storylines in fully realized interactive fiction segments. A dynamic Inclination system tracks your choices, defining what kind of Willowguard you become and shaping the fate of the village—and perhaps the entire world.

Instead of traditional experience points, Willow Guard advances your hero by improving gear, adding new cards to your deck and honing your own skills. Crafting and upgrading demand materials gathered from defeated foes, dungeon explorations, quest rewards or trade with the enigmatic Merchant. Deciding how to allocate resources becomes as strategic as choosing which cards to play.
