Zelter places you right in the midst of a fast-spreading zombie outbreak that has isolated entire communities. In this dangerous setting, you take on the role of a courageous survivor who has been dropped into a quarantined city overrun by former humans turned monsters. Instead of charging in recklessly, you'll need to explore the ruins, gather essential resources, and use them to build and upgrade your shelter. Begin with makeshift stone spears and work your way up to more advanced firearms, all while foraging and hunting just enough to keep hunger and thirst at bay.

The game challenges you in two distinct modes. In Challenge Mode, your goal is to withstand six increasingly difficult days as you rescue civilians and secure your camp against relentless waves of zombies—every decision matters when lives are on the line and the final day brings a monumental threat. Alternatively, Pioneer Mode encourages you to hire and protect NPC survivors. By carefully selecting who to trust and managing their needs, you reinforce your stand against the undead. However, even the most reliable allies might falter under pressure, so you must strategically plan their safe extraction when the situation becomes overwhelming.
