Protolife takes you to a world 15 years after the first colonization parties landed on Gagarin-5—a planet once transformed into a new home through years of challenging hard work. In what feels like an instant, corruption spread across the lands. Waves of crimson doom wiped out mushroom farms, and giant worms devoured the cities. Only a few thousand survivors managed to escape into emergency bases. Now, a mysterious lifeform lies dormant by day and slowly grows during the night, marked by tumors, blights, and unsettling pink lights.

In this original tower-based real-time strategy game, your mission is clear: defend a distant human colony against the encroaching lifeform that consumes everything in its path. Relying on a unique building mechanic, you will construct complex defenses from the simplest element—a single block. Every tower is assembled block by block, allowing you the freedom to design and optimize your defensive grid in a way that best suits your strategy.

Face an enemy unlike any other—a living, growing entity that exploits every weakness in your defenses. The more territory it claims, the stronger it becomes. Choose your approach wisely: invest in a rapid, low-tier tower rush to halt its advance, or fortify your positions with well-defended artillery posts. As the night onslaught begins, you must rebuild and reinforce your defenses on the fly, always mindful of space and resources.

Protolife offers direct control over your builder—or even two—allowing you to dynamically switch between different battlefronts as you push back against the corruption. With over 30 levels featuring varied gameplay and objectives, plus a random mission generator that adjusts difficulty and rewards, every playthrough presents fresh challenges. The game even includes a custom towers editor for creating your own powerful defenses, and a flexible control scheme that supports remapped keyboard or gamepad controls (note that the game was not designed for mouse control).
