XO-Planets is an engaging blend of rogue-lite, action platformer, tower defense, and RPG elements. As an action platformer, players can unlock abilities like double jumping, dashing, and wall climbing, all while wielding a one-handed weapon. The rogue-lite aspect ensures that each level is procedurally generated, offering a unique experience every time you play. However, be prepared for permadeath, which means losing all progress upon death, with some exceptions.

The RPG elements allow players to collect rare Xolyriums to upgrade their reconnoiter, adding a layer of strategy to the gameplay. The tower defense component challenges players to strategically use gun turrets, missile launchers, and tesla towers to fend off enemies. The game demands patience and skill, with AI modifications that may seem daunting at first but become manageable with practice.

XO-Planets also offers local co-op, allowing you to team up with a friend. The game features a variety of missions, including Search and Destroy, Bounty Hunter, and Treasure Hunter, among others. With over 25 enemy creatures, five bosses, and numerous weapon types and enhancements, the game provides a rich and varied experience. Players can also unlock stories behind the G-Raiders crew and gather intel on invaders, adding depth to the narrative.
