Your choice of god and nation will influence your strengths and abilities. Your dominion, a manifestation of your divine power, affects your lands, followers, and sacred soldiers. It is crucial to maintain your dominion, as its demise means your own.

Victory can be achieved through three main paths: conquering enemy lands, extinguishing their dominion, or claiming the Thrones of Ascension. The game is set in a fantasy world inspired by historical nations, cultures, and myths, offering a unique twist on conventional fantasy elements. You might lead a nation inspired by Norse mythology, Aztecs, Romans, Israelites, Greeks, Kievan Rus, or even Lovecraftian horrors.

Dominions 6 builds upon its predecessors with several key enhancements. Armies are larger, and the balance between conventional forces and magic has been adjusted. Incomes and resources have been increased, while mages are now more costly. Battlefield-wide spells are harder to cast, with a focus on mid-tier spells instead.

A significant addition is the new magic path, Glamour, which takes over the domain of illusions from Air magic. This introduces a wealth of new spells, items, and sites, enriching the gameplay experience. Another major change is the separation of mounts and riders, allowing for individual targeting and stats, impacting cavalry and mounted units.
