ICARUS is a PvE survival game set on a harsh terraformed planet where up to eight players can survive together in co-op or play solo. The game combines mission-based gameplay with a persistent open world, giving players different ways to experience the same dangerous environment.

On Icarus, everything is trying to kill you: poisonous air, aggressive wildlife, dangerous predators, fires, and violent storms. Success depends on careful preparation, gathering resources, crafting tools, hunting for food, and managing essentials like oxygen and supplies before heading deep into the wilderness.

The world is large and handcrafted, with caves, biomes, and more than 64 square kilometers to explore. Players can harvest trees, mine rocks, hunt creatures, tame mounts, and build up technology to make resource gathering and survival more efficient. Progress comes through three different skill systems: planetary technology, character talents, and the orbital workshop, where advanced items and upgrades can be unlocked for future drops.

ICARUS also includes narrative questlines, which can be played either as timed missions or as operations in the open world. In addition to the main survival experience, there are creative outpost areas with safe conditions and regenerating resources for building without pressure.
