Skigill Build 20589363 - early access

Skigill is a compact, fast-paced bullet‑hell roguelike that centers on a giant magical sigil - the Skigill - where waves of enemies relentlessly press you for 15 minutes. The core loop is simple but deep: defeat foes, gather resources, and invest them into nearby nodes on the sigil to unlock stat boosts, weapons, and powerful perks. Choosing where to branch next on the sigil matters: you can’t clear it all at once, so map knowledge and planning shape each run.
Gameplay blends twitch skill with build strategy. Combat feels frantic and rewarding - enemies swarm in patterns that demand positioning, quick reactions, and smart use of perks and weapons. There’s a real sense of discovery as you adapt to whatever weapons spawn from chests and assemble synergies between your character’s base kit and the nodes you unlock.
Characters are distinct and immediately different to play. Currently there are three:
- The Strongman: a bruiser who punches through foes and turns them into explosive projectiles.
- The Sorcerer: a mobile spellcaster that zips between enemies and deals heavy area damage.
- The Fox: nimble and tricky, using a hookshot to collect resources (which also heal) and pierce enemies.
More characters are planned, and each hero starts with unique position, weapon, and perk on the Skigill - but you can hybridize builds by reaching other characters’ zones on the sigil, opening interesting role-blend possibilities.
Content-wise, there are over 40 weapons to find and 30+ perks to customize your strategy (e.g., lightning when you pick up resources, healing on chest opens, or explosions on node unlock). A meta-progression layer adds a second sigil with permanent stat boosts, unlockable weapons, and additional characters; pushing higher difficulties rewards more resources and encourages experimentation.
Design choices give Skigill a raw, exploratory feel: there’s no tutorial and almost no text, so you learn by trial and error and by discovering synergies yourself. That makes early runs exciting but can be opaque for players who prefer guided onboarding. The soundtrack and SFX are credited to Noé Guiton and help sell the atmosphere.
Verdict: Skigill is a tight, strategic bullet‑hell roguelike that rewards experimentation and map awareness. If you enjoy builds, fast combat, and uncovering synergies without handholding, it’s worth a try. Skigill can be downloaded from Steam.
