Rainbow Sea is a pixel-art visual novel inspired by the Japanese tale of the Seven Lucky Gods. You play as a Human who wakes up aboard a mysterious treasure ship and is told by one of the gods that you’ve been chosen as a candidate to become a deity. Your reflection in a mirror gives a strange command to lie, and when you step out of the storeroom you meet the Seven Lucky Gods - most of whom are distant or reserved toward you. Over the course of a year at sea, your choices and discoveries decide whether you become a god, return to your previous life, or follow another path.

Gameplay blends exploration and branching narrative. You freely walk the ship, speak with the gods and inspect objects to trigger scenes. Events depend on conditions like the gods’ affection for you, the weather, and the time of day, and many moments offer choices that reshape the plot. Time passes in real time (one real second equals one in-game minute); you can be active between 6:00 and midnight unless hunger or fatigue forces you to sleep earlier. Each playthrough lasts roughly two hours, and there are 22 distinct true endings - only by replaying and piecing together what you’ve uncovered can you reveal the deeper story behind them.
