A Light in the Dark drops you into the unsettling moment when Hao-Chen Jiang wakes up in a dim, unfamiliar room with his hands bound - he quickly realizes he’s been kidnapped. A scornful, enigmatic girl soon appears and bluntly tells him his fate: unless his family pays a ransom, escape is unlikely. But as the two of them interact, it becomes clear there may be more at play than simple money.

Hao-Chen is a sheltered, well-off young man stuck in a predictable life; the girl is a hardened survivor living on the other side of society. Confined together, they are forced to confront a wider world and the assumptions that have shaped them. As their perspectives shift, the choices they face will determine what they learn - and how their story ends.

The game blends a narrative visual-novel experience with interactive segments in which you, as Hao-Chen, inspect objects and try to devise an escape plan. A stamina mechanic affects how long you can keep working, adding tension to your decisions. Multiple endings reflect the different paths your choices can create.
