Power the Future Build 19201722

Power the Future is a turn-based strategy game in which you lead one of several nations from 2025 to 2038, building and expanding low-carbon energy systems to meet growing demand. You’ll plan and deploy technologies like solar, onshore and offshore wind, hydrogen, ammonia and e-fuels, place generation sites at home or abroad, then connect them with pipelines and power lines so cities and industries can use the energy. Expanding your network increases revenue and political influence, letting you accelerate further growth.

Gameplay balances two resources: Money (shown in millions of USD) and Influence, an abstract currency that represents bureaucracy, permitting and political capital. Many purchases are partly financed, so only a portion is paid upfront while the rest is serviced from future energy income. The game distinguishes base (dispatchable) and intermittent generation, so you’ll need storage and grid upgrades to make renewables more reliable.
Each country scenario (USA, Germany, China, India, Australia, Japan, UK) presents different goals, constraints and opportunities - from export-focused Australia to fast-growth China and India, and transition-focused UK and Japan. There are over 100 developable sites and 14 significant real-world technologies to research and deploy, including near-term and emerging options such as deep geothermal, naturally occurring hydrogen, "orange" hydrogen with CO2 sequestration, space-based solar concepts, and offshore ammonia production.
Other systems include scenario-specific policies, optional tasks that grant rewards if completed on time, and scoring elements like carbon offsets and GDP growth that affect your endgame results. The game is built in Unity, is accessible to new players while still offering optimization for veterans, and supports leaderboards so you can compare strategies with others.
