Overview:
The year is Showa 33 (1958). On a cold January day, a funeral is held beneath a gray sky, and the portrait of a girl sits draped in snow. The chains of obsession that began with the infamous Girl in Shell case have dragged Detective Reiji Tokisaka back into one final, perilous investigation-everything he has left hangs in the balance.

Reiji and his allies are drawn to the late painter Shinzo Mamiya’s studio, where they uncover an unsettling, unnamed work: a one‑winged, armless angel they call Exile of Paradise. The piece echoes Mamiya’s notorious Girl in Shell and soon a corpse appears, modified in the same way as Exile. The victim is connected to Tomoyuki Masaki, and the investigation reopens old wounds and dangerous secrets. There may be no one who can break the chain of obsession-except for one small girl.
