Doodle Empires is an alternate history sandbox game that lets you craft your own nations, write their stories and watch them evolve on a variety of maps. With nothing more than a drawing tool, a stack of cards and your imagination, you decide which powers will rise, which will fall-and how each will shape the world.

How to Play
1. Create a nation by choosing a border color and giving it a name.
2. Draw your nation’s borders on the map, keeping an eye on your remaining drawing power.
3. When you run out of drawing power, open the nation inspector, select your nation and draw a card to shape its future.
4. Use cards to expand territory, split kingdoms, found new faiths, place castles and more.
5. Repeat, experiment and enjoy an ever-changing world.

Card Types
- EXPAND (small, medium, large): Grow your nation’s borders. Expanding into unclaimed land is cheaper than seizing another nation’s territory.
- SPLIT (regular, small): Carve out a new nation from part of your selected territory.
- UNION: Fully annex another nation through treaty or royal marriage.
- NEW NATION: Start a brand-new nation, creating a distinct origin group.
- NEW LEADER: Change your ruler and shift your nation’s expansion traits.
- BUILD CASTLE: Place a castle to protect surrounding tiles and make them harder for rivals to conquer.
- FOUND/ADOPT RELIGION: Create a new faith or adopt an existing one.
- DIVERGE ORIGIN: Spawn a new origin line from your chosen nation.
- AGE CARDS (Conquest, Division, Unity): Adjust card probabilities over a period to reflect ages of growth, fragmentation or cohesion.

Map Modes
- Political Mode: See every nation’s borders at a glance.
- Origin Mode: Trace each nation back to its cultural ancestor.
- Faith Mode: View territories by religion.
- Fort Mode: Identify castle-protected tiles that are costlier to claim.

What’s Next?
Doodle Empires is still in early development. Planned additions include migrating tribes, disaster events that revert land to the wilderness, customizable map sizes, a list of extinct nations, improved UI, music and sound, and much more. The feature list will grow and evolve alongside your empires.

About the Developer
Created solo by Tanner (aka TanTan), Doodle Empires grew out of a lifelong love of historical strategy games and doodling maps in Paint. Inspired by random-event wheels and paper-and-pen nation builders, Tanner set out to turn freeform map-drawing into a real sandbox experience.
