You can tackle the mission alone or team up with up to three friends in seamless four-player co-op. Roles are divided naturally: some players focus on installing detection equipment, others on drawing protective seals or completing secondary tasks, and someone else might be on photographic evidence duty to boost the group’s payout. With over 25 primary and secondary tools at your disposal, every investigation feels unique—EMF readers, spiritual cameras, holy water, voice recorders and more help you determine exactly which type of ghost or demon you’re up against.

There are 12 distinct locations to cleanse, each with its own layout, history and supernatural quirks. Your target will give you subtle—and sometimes horrifying—hints of its presence. Expect a wide range of jumpscares, the frequency and intensity of which depend on the spirit’s temperament and level of anger. When stealth and speed fail, you’ll need to resort to the right combination of rituals and equipment to send the unclean spirit packing.

Ghost Exile also supports voice recognition in multiple languages, so you can speak directly to the ghost—or, if you don’t have a microphone, use a robust text-based command system. For players craving more challenge, optional content lets you raise the difficulty and earn greater rewards.
