Asylum Nightmares is a survival horror game set in a terrifying asylum filled with zombies. The game features two main modes, each offering a unique but equally challenging experience.

Story Mode:
- Objective: Descend through the different floors of the asylum using a service elevator.
- Restore the power: Each floor is completely dark, and your first task is to find a way to turn the lights on.
- Face the zombies: Every floor is infested with undead who will try to stop you. You must eliminate them all to progress.
- Weapons and ammo: You will find new weapons and ammunition on each floor to help you survive.
- Limited resources: Manage your resources wisely, as ammunition might be scarce.

Horde Mode:
- Zombie waves: Face endless waves of zombies in a fight for survival.
- Points system: Every zombie you kill will give you points, which you can use to unlock new areas of the asylum.
- Weapon unlocks: You can also use points to unlock more powerful weapons to withstand the waves.
- Zombie rewards: Some zombies will drop items upon death, such as health to recover, extra ammunition, and "X2" to double the points earned for a limited time.
- Increasing difficulty: Each wave will be harder than the last, testing your skill and endurance.
