The Stone of Madness is a real-time tactical stealth adventure from the creators of the Blasphemous series. You play five condemned inmates—Agnes, Leonora, Eduardo, Amelia and Alfredo—trapped in an 18th-century Jesuit monastery high in the Pyrenees. Within its crumbling walls lie an inquisitorial prison and a madhouse, and these prisoners must pool their diverse talents to confront their deepest fears, guard their sanity, uncover hidden secrets and ultimately escape.

Players switch between all five characters on the fly, using and upgrading each one’s special abilities: casting forbidden spells, slipping through shadows to eliminate foes, setting clever distractions, stunning hostile spirits or reaching overlooked passages. Scour the monastery for clues, tools and passages, but beware—guards tolerate no intruders, and any misstep can mean immediate capture.

Every character is plagued by personal traumas and phobias. Exposing them to triggers drains their sanity meter; once it runs too low they suffer a breakdown—paranoia, violent rages or dementia—that permanently alters how they perform in the field. Balancing each prisoner’s mental health becomes as urgent as avoiding the guards.

Two distinct campaigns await, each boasting its own storyline, objectives, special NPCs and surprises. Time flows continuously: daylight hours are best for sneaking, exploring and gathering supplies while guards are more easily fooled, but as night falls the monastery’s supernatural horrors stir and threaten everyone’s grip on reality. After curfew, security tightens and every step feels riskier—yet daring night-time forays can yield the greatest rewards.
