The free Prologue demo-about 3-5 hours of play-offers two slices of the full experience: "Pilgrims of the Wasteland," a self-contained tutorial story, and a taste of the open-world campaign complete with character creation and the first 25 turns of sandbox travel. This is no easy ride; you’ll want to master the systems before committing to long treks across the map.

Narrative and events are at the heart of Vagrus. You pick a background (trader, mercenary or explorer), pursue rumors, strike deals for valuable cargo or choose to plunder it instead. Your decisions affect not only your own fate but also the personalities and loyalties of the companions who join your caravan. Every encounter branches into new opportunities-or new dangers.

When diplomacy fails, you’ll fight in turn-based, tactical battles that reward careful positioning, support skills and clever use of both leader abilities and your companions’ unique talents. Outside of combat, you must plan journeys with precision: manage supplies, crew morale and vigor, assign roles to scouts, guards, workers and even slaves, then push on to deliver or acquire goods before supplies run out.

Companions are more than mere statistics. Each comes with a backstory and personal quest line that can boost their abilities when you complete it. Factions-trading houses, religious orders, criminal syndicates and more-offer powerful rewards for loyalty, but allying with one often turns others against you. Navigating these shifting alliances is key to rising in fame and influence.

[spoiler=Steam Update Info 04.06.2026] Expedition Hotfix and News Hey everyone,We released a bunch of fixes for the last update (Expedition Part 3) yesterday, and now we are following up with the list of changes. There is a fair amount of stuff here, many of which were quite nasty, or at the very least, persistent, so we’re glad to have hunted them down. We hope this batch will make the experience much better. Expedition Final TouchesWith the previous update, only one, final (epic?) part remains from the Expedition storyline. Expect it in the upcoming months, though we can’t exactly say when – we’d like to do this material justice and test it extensively, since stakes are high at the end of such a lengthy storyline. It was our hope to conclude what was initially a stray idea during the initial development of the expansion, but which ended up becoming its core story, perhaps. Anyway, enjoy what’s already out, and expect its conclusion to be the next major update. New Russian Language PackFor those interested, there is a new Russian language pack over at mod.io, which is fresher and more extensive than the previous ones, so you might want to switch over to it.
