Strid is a tactical action game in which you command various armed units in intense battles. Players have access to a wide range of vehicles, including tanks and helicopters, that you can use to overpower your foes. One of the game’s standout features is the dynamic terrain—you can alter the battlefield by constructing or demolishing elements to gain a tactical advantage. The fog of war adds another layer of strategy, forcing you to outwit your opponent by exploiting areas of limited visibility.

Each soldier kit in the game comes with its own set of five unique items, and as you progress, you can unlock additional weapons and gear to enhance your play style. Whether you’re coordinating with friends in squad-based battles or taking on opponents solo, the game supports both online and LAN play, and you have the option to battle against humans or bots.

The main game mode, Conquest, challenges players to capture flags and gradually deplete the enemy’s resources until they run out of tickets. Tactical equipment—like smoke grenades, flash-bangs, and the ability to call in precision air strikes using laser designation and radio—adds depth to every encounter.

Developed using a custom-built C++ engine with OpenGL and several open source libraries, Strid is the product of a dedicated one-man team who continues to update it periodically. The game offers an engaging blend of strategy and fast-paced action, making it ideal for both close-quarters skirmishes and positional warfare.
