Tattletail Build 1819061

Tattletail Build 1819061

Tattletail is a short, story-driven first-person horror that leans on 90s nostalgia - and a healthy dose of childhood unease. You play as a kid who opened a Talking Tattletail before Christmas, and now you have to keep the mischievous toy under control until Christmas Day. The toy demands attention: feed it, brush it, and recharge it, or it won't stop talking. At the same time you must avoid waking Mama Tattletail, and avoid making loud noises that might draw her attention.

Gameplay is simple but tense. Managing the Tattletail's needs creates constant small tasks, while mechanics like shaking the flashlight to charge it introduce trade-offs (noise and risk versus visibility). The horror comes from atmosphere and anticipation rather than complex combat: stealth, resource management and careful timing are the core challenges. The game is short, designed around a handful of nights that escalate the scare factor, so it's an intense, compact experience rather than a long-term commitment.

The free Kaleidoscope Expansion DLC is a nice bonus: it unlocks after you finish the base game and offers a distinct new campaign that reframes the events of Christmas 1998 with a strange green-eyed Tattletail, fresh nights, new scares, and additional narrative consequences. It adds replay value and a different perspective on the story.

If you like nostalgia-tinged horror, tense stealth mechanics, and short - but memorable - scares, Tattletail is worth trying. Its strengths are atmosphere, clever use of a simple toy-based concept, and a satisfying bite-sized structure. If you prefer long, mechanically deep horror games, this one may feel too brief, but for a creepy, 90s-tinged night of jumps and tension it delivers. Waygetter Electronics' first release shows clear potential, and the developers welcome feedback.
