Renoir tells the story of James Renoir, a dedicated cop serving in a crime-ridden metropolis where corruption seeps from the underworld straight into political power. Influenced by mafia families that have infiltrated every level of government, the regular police force finds itself powerless under corrupt leadership. However, when a young, ambitious politician begins to change the system, Renoir is rewarded with a promotion to Detective for his efforts against the criminal underworld. Amid this transformation, he even finds love.

Tragedy, though, strikes without warning—two gunshots shatter his world. In the aftermath, as he confronts his own untimely death beside a gravestone, Renoir awakens as a ghost. Now endowed with a supernatural ability to control phantoms, he must navigate through shadowed landscapes and solve intricate environmental puzzles. His quest is clear: retrace the steps of his final moments, piece together lost memories, and hunt down the person responsible for his death, all while avoiding the deadly light that threatens his spectral existence.

Set in a stark black-and-white aesthetic powered by Unreal Engine 4, Renoir combines puzzle-platforming challenges with a cinematic detective narrative that draws inspiration from classic Hollywood noir films and atmospheric comic book storytelling.
