Turmoil is a 3D isometric top-down game with a dieselpunk aesthetic, inspired by roguelike mechanics. Set in an alternate history, the game explores a world where humans have developed oil-powered machines to automate society. Over time, these machines began creating more machines, prioritizing productivity over safety. You play as Harry, the last human in the prestigious Geargrave Automations factory, who suffers a severe injury to his mechanical arm, the very thing that made him valuable to the company. Now, with his arm leaking oil and discarded as trash, Harry realizes he must fight to survive.

Armed with only his damaged arm and a basic understanding of mechanics, Harry's mission is to avenge the humans who were cast aside by defeating the factory's boss, Kornelius Rayburn Geargrave, and shutting down the factory. Geargrave is solely focused on efficiency, output, and profit, and upon learning of Harry's rebellion, he orders all robots to become hostile towards any deviant employees.

Players must navigate through three procedurally generated levels of the factory, battling hostile robots to survive. Collect oil from defeated robots to keep moving forward, as persistence is the only option. Gather blueprints and scrap to upgrade Harry's mechanical arm, and collect oil canisters to sustain him. Use the hazardous environment to your advantage to defeat attacking robots. Rise from the ashes and prove to the boss that a worker is more than just their mechanical parts.
