In MoonQuest, players will encounter various regions, each with its own resources, wildlife, and challenges. Examples include snowy forests with bandits, grand castles guarded by silver legions, and labyrinthine ruins leading to desolate tombs. The game also offers a variety of playable characters, each with unique abilities and quests. Characters include Moonman, a cheerful alien; Amphibian, a sea creature; Argonax, a powerful wizard; and many others.

The game is rich with items to discover and craft, such as weapons, tools, armor, and more. These items can be found in various locations, from mountain depths to merchant cellars. Players can also interact with merchants and use crafting tools to create useful items.

MoonQuest's world is influenced by a set of strange moons, each affecting the landscape in different ways. These moons include the Giant Moon, which enlarges objects; the Treasure Moon, symbolizing wealth; the Water Moon, bringing rain and floods; and the Frog Moon, which spawns numerous frogs.

The game is available on Linux and MacOS, and its official soundtrack, composed by Aliceffekt, features xenomorphic IDM textures and drones.
