Hans is a unique visual novel and baking simulator where you play as an alien who lands on Earth during World War I. Your mission is to bake magical pastries to assist the residents of a small town. However, you have the choice to fulfill or ignore their requests, as not all of them are well-considered. Your decisions lead to one of eight possible endings, each with its own consequences.

In this atmospheric, hand-drawn game, you have the opportunity to help the townsfolk by creating enchanted baked goods. You can also summon other aliens at a mysterious cat shrine to acquire special ingredients for your recipes.

One of the storylines involves helping a character named Addler, who has feelings for their friend Karl. You can bake magical muffins to give Addler the confidence to express their feelings to Karl.

Hans is a labor of love developed over a few months by a small team of college students. The artwork is created with pencil on watercolor paper and then colored and edited in Photoshop. The game was designed by Clei Barnhart and Elaine Toh, with production by Clei Barnhart and David Contarino. Elaine Toh handled the coding, while Clei Barnhart was responsible for the art and narrative. Music was composed by Fay Xu and Jacov Naumoski, and sound design was managed by David Contarino. The user interface was crafted by Elaine Toh, with special thanks to Nicholas Linares and Marianne Zhou.
