Rum & Gun is a swashbuckling, top-down action game that blends fast-paced shooter mechanics with ARPG-style loot and progression. Set across the Indian Ocean, you play a pirate captain chasing the secrets of the Drunken God through four handcrafted acts, while also getting into naval battles, monster hunts and the usual rum-fueled tomfoolery.

Gameplay and feel
- Combat leans into frantic twin-stick style shooting (keyboard movement, mouse aiming) with an emphasis on positioning, dodging and an active reload system that rewards timing. Melee and spellcaster builds are also viable, so playstyle variety is real.
- Loot and progression are ARPG-focused: weapons, hats, pets and character perks unlock meaningful customization. Weapons can slot up to two Spell Runes which level up and change attack behavior in wild ways.
- The pirate life is integrated into gameplay and atmosphere: drink rum instead of potions, play instruments to boost morale, gamble at Liar’s Dice, hunt legendary beasts and take to ship-to-ship combat.
- The tone is humorous and unpretentious - expect salty pirate jokes and moments like kicking a zombie in half while playing the fiddle.
