Still Wakes the Deep v1.5

Still Wakes the Deep is a tense, atmospheric first-person narrative horror from The Chinese Room, the studio behind Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture and Dear Esther. You play an offshore oil rig worker in 1970s Scotland struggling to survive a brutal storm, a collapsing platform and a mysterious, relentless threat that has come aboard. With communications cut and exits gone, the game focuses on claustrophobic exploration, stealth and desperate improvisation as the freezing North Sea closes in.

The game leans heavily on mood and storytelling rather than combat. There are no weapons or supernatural powers-survival depends on your wits: avoiding, distracting and sneaking past danger, running, climbing and swimming through flooding corridors and storm-lashed decks. The rig itself is richly realised and changes as the story unfolds, helping the sense of a living, failing environment. Production values are high: polished visuals and sound, a cast that includes Alec Newman and Neve McIntosh, and a haunting score by Jason Graves. At roughly six hours, the experience aims to deliver a compact, cinematic arc of action, dread and awe.
Who it’s for: players who value atmosphere, strong writing and immersive worldbuilding over action-oriented gameplay; fans of narrative horror and studio-driven experiences.
