This turbulent era saw the French kings clash with English monarchs and German emperors, while England pressed its claims in Wales, Scotland and Ireland. At the same time the Baltic Crusades unfolded and the Mongols swept into Eastern Europe. Dynastic feuds and noble uprisings kept the continent in near‐constant conflict.

Choose from more than 29 nations and factions-including Anglo-Saxons, Normans, post-Conquest England, France, Germany, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, the Low Countries, Free Cantons, the Scandinavian realms, Bohemia, Poland, the Teutonic Knights, Old Prussians, Lithuanians, Russia, Hungary, Cumans, Volga Bulgars and the Mongols-and lead their armies in either historical set-piece clashes or "what-if" encounters against AI or human opponents. Every force is drawn from period-accurate orders of battle, giving you the exact units and variations available to commanders of the time.

Over 100 fully animated 3D troop types-each with multiple color schemes-bring swords, spears, bows and banners to life. Witness arrows arc overhead, cavalry shatter infantry lines and the grim aftermath as the fallen cover the ground.

The campaign system keeps the focus on individual battles rather than map maneuvers. Victories earn your core units experience and elan, making them ever more reliable in subsequent fights. Four scripted campaigns-The Angevin Empire, The Northern Crusades, Alexander Nevsky and the Mongol Invasions-recreate key conflicts, while a sandbox mode lets any two nations and their allies face off in thousands of custom campaign permutations.
