Story
Drawing inspiration from titles such as Shadow of the Colossus and Another World, Fossil Echo invites you to piece together why this boy is climbing the ominous tower. As you progress, key moments from his past play out in wordless flashbacks, revealing motivations and mysteries without a single line of dialogue or text.

Gameplay
The core experience centres on precision platforming and stealth. Every leap, wall-grab and timed dash must be executed flawlessly, since any encounter with enemies or deadly traps sends you back to the last checkpoint. This relentless approach echoes the feel of classic 90s adventure-platformers, where mastery comes from persistence and observation.

Art and Presentation
Every scene in Fossil Echo looks and moves like a hand-animated film. Backgrounds are pre-rendered or hand-painted, while characters are brought to life with traditional 2D animation. By stripping away HUD elements and on-screen prompts, the game places you directly in its immersive world, letting you absorb every visual detail.

Sound
The atmosphere is elevated by more than two hours of original music composed by John Robert Matz (known for Gunpoint and Rodina) alongside immersive soundscapes crafted by Gordon McGladdery (Rogue Legacy, Fantastic Contraption). Music and sound effects work in harmony to heighten tension, accentuate stealth, and enrich every cutscene.

Fossil Echo is the passion project of a small team: Phil Crifo (story, art & design), Thierry Boura (programming), John Robert Matz (music) and A Shell In The Pit (sound design). Together they’ve created a short but memorable experience that challenges players to explore, observe and overcome.
