Emberward Build 23414980

Emberward is a fresh take on roguelike tower defense that puts you in the architect’s chair before the first monster spawns. With every run offering new maps, cards, towers and relics, each playthrough feels distinct-and every decision matters. Here’s what makes Emberward stand out:
Key Features
- Maze-Building Phase
- Before the battle begins, you place limited wall-block cards to shape the paths your enemies must follow.
- Creative layouts can force longer routes, concentrate foes for splash damage, or funnel them past your high-powered defenses.
- Rune-Enhanced Blocks
- After each battle, slot runes into your wall cards to grant special effects-boost tower stats, unlock unique abilities or even double block size.
- Customizing blocks is a core part of your strategy, letting you adapt your defenses to ever-shifting challenges.
- Special Tower Variants
- Variable Sizes (1×3, 2×2, 3×3): Bigger towers hit harder but leave fewer building spots.
- Poison Towers that drench the path in toxic sludge instead of firing projectiles.
- Drone Towers that chase and harass enemies wherever they go.
- D20 Towers that roll for damage-hit big on a nat-20, or suffer the occasional critical blunder.
- And many more surprises lie in your deck, each demanding new tactical approaches.
- Roguelike Progression
- Pick your character class and elemental affinity ("fire source") at the start of each run.
- Discover new tower blueprints, block cards and relics as you advance.
- Earn experience from every battle, unlocking talents that carry over into future runs.
- Ever-Changing World
- Randomly generated maps and enemy waves ensure no two runs feel alike.
- Adaptive difficulty means you’re always pushed to refine your maze layouts and tower synergies.
- Permanent upgrades and branching talent trees give you long-term goals and meaningful choices.
Why You’ll Keep Coming Back
Emberward’s unique blend of pre-battle puzzle building and post-battle deck-building progression makes each session feel rewarding. Whether you’re tinkering with the perfect maze, hunting for that game-changing rune, or chasing new tower combos, you’ll find endless replay value in its evolving systems. If you’re looking for a tower defense that challenges both your strategic planning and your deck-management skills, Emberward delivers an addictive, ever-fresh experience.
[spoiler=Steam Update Info 16.04.2026] Game Update! (v0.4.12) New update!Another month just flew by!In this patch, there are some big changes to Endless Mode. Previously, Endless Mode had random anomaly effects to ramp up the difficulty, so you had to adjust your strategy, towers, and relics around them. But from player feedback, a lot of people mentioned that those restrictive effects didn't feel great to play with. So this time I decided to try a different direction (...the exact opposite direction) and added powerful positive effects instead! Honestly, I think having both positive and negative effects could lead to more interesting strategy, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on a buffs-only version first. Let me know what you think after you try it!After this update, I've decided to start focusing on 1.0! I've already been slowly working toward it over the past few months, but trying to keep regular updates going while also building all the features needed for 1.0 has made the development process a lot more complicated. So I'm going to focus on it fully for a while! This way I don't have to worry about updates going wrong, and I can have more time to work on new stuff. Since there's a lot to get through, there might not be any more updates before 1.0 releases. Just wanted to give you a heads-up in case anyone's worried. I'll make another post later and show you some of the progress! That's it for now. Hope you enjoy this update!(btw, I mentioned reworking old relics and towers last time, but it turned out to be a lot more work than expected, and I also had some new ideas I wanted to try first, so they're not in this update.
