Weirdlands is an RPG that takes place during a lockdown, where you're stuck at home until a portal to a magical world appears in your room. The game draws inspiration from classics like Final Fantasy, Earthbound, and Undertale, but it has its own unique twist. In Weirdlands, you can recruit or capture almost any enemy you encounter. Some of the more powerful and unique spirits have distinct personalities and storylines. These spirits can absorb others you capture, gaining their abilities, allowing you to create combinations that suit your playstyle, including some hidden ones.

The game features a point-and-click inventory system for solving puzzles, but since it's an RPG, there are often multiple ways to solve them, including using brute force if your character's strength is high enough. After completing the game, or by enabling an option, you can start a new game+ that significantly alters the story and mechanics, offering a fresh experience.

Weirdlands is rich in lore, which you can uncover through the story and by exploring to find hidden clues about the world. The game includes features like dramatic changes in your second playthrough, multiple puzzle solutions, optional content and bosses, countless secrets, and a vast number of spirits to catch. It is also compatible with the Steam Deck.
