Banquet for Fools is an open-world, party-based RPG that sends four volunteer guards to explore the cursed isle of Invimona. As a lord’s envoy, you must uncover why an entire farmhold has vanished while defending lucrative spice plantations from jealous neighbors—and face grave robbers, restless ghosts and petty gods along the way.

Story
After the Vollings lose favor with the ancient deities, they cling to pagan rites for survival. One enterprising lord reclaims Invimona’s abandoned hillsides to farm a rare spice, only to learn his tenants have disappeared without a trace. With his own forces needed elsewhere, he tasks you and three companions to investigate the mystery—and confront whatever lurks in the island’s ruins, forests and haunted exiles.

Key Features
• Party-Based Adventure: Generate four unique companions whose personalities, dialogue options and relationships evolve based on their stats. Travel by foot, boat or overland portage with the help of a sturdy pack-boro. No quest compass or auto-log—navigation and note-taking are part of the challenge.
• Pausable Real-Time Combat: Control one party member at a time, pause to select actions from your combat dome, then rejoin the fray. Coordinate critical strikes and unlock Rally attacks to combine assault rolls for devastating effects.
• Deep Character Customization: Train in weapons, armor, rogue arts, animal binding, musical buffs and pagan magic. Earn XP or purchase lessons in towns to level up. Allocate three points per level—skills used most often gain bonus points upon advancement.
• Intercessions & Pagan Spells: Discover scattered stone idols of forgotten Volling deities. Complete rituals and quests to earn custom holy items. For magic, harvest birch from sacred trees and etch runes in blood to craft unique Fauna, Vine or Spore spells that grow stronger as you progress.
• Songs & Music: Assemble a battle “setlist” of auto-triggering songs—activate at the start of combat, on enemy defeats or when allies are wounded. Memorize limited tracks and choose potency and timing to suit your tactics.
• Rogue Options: Pick locks, steal from shops and evade guard patrols—but get caught and face bounties, tarnished reputation or bribes. Every crime leaves a mark on your character and the island’s justice system.
• Field Kit Crafting: Stay supplied during long hikes. Use gathered wood, flora and healing amphoras to fashion arrows, darts and explosive elixirs anywhere in the wilderness.
• Guard Duties & Exile Island: Decide whether to kill or stun criminals. Deliver justice to Exile Island’s ghost-haunted rock for coin rewards—knowing that slain foes might return as restless spirits if not properly dispatched.
• Early Access & Continuing Development: Built by a two-person team, Banquet for Fools is feature-complete and open to feedback. Expect regular map expansions and balance updates through to the final release. If you’ve played Serpent in the Staglands, import your old save to shape the world of Vol with your past choices.
